My name is Emma Preston, and I run the Sewing Time Machine! I’m just a regular nerd who loves sewing, fashion, and history, and I started my Time Machine as a place to talk about all things historical fashion.
I’ve been sewing since I was probably seven years old, though for the first ten years it was only occasionally. In my late teens, though, I remembered again how much I had loved creating things from fabric, and it’s been an adventure ever since!
I sew at home on an old machine that my mother has had since her teenage years, and I’ve just started trying to learn how to sew by hand, particularly when it comes to embroidery. Long-term, I’m hoping to make a collection of vintage-inspired and historical replica clothes for all occasions. I will also make some current styles, depending on what I’m in the mood for, though for the most part I’m not one for things modern-trendy. I’ll sometimes include progress guides as I go, and I’ll review patterns and other materials along the way. Follow me along as I achieve my dreams of being the best-dressed seamstress in Arizona!
